a favourite invention for rice eaters

İ just dont get it... so many different measurement to cook rice with different kinds of containers... why?


One cup of uncooked rice will be cooked with one cup of glass if u r using pressure cooker...

or...

one cup of uncooked rice to be cooked with one and a half glass of water ...if u r using the teflon pan or the normal pan...

and yes...our beloved rice cooker... well the one i just newly got (thanks to Alinlai.. pls see my previous entry)...has the measurement.... for let say six cups ( cup provided), there is a certain level of water u should add...but i just couldnt get the kind of rice that i was looking for.. the measurement just wasnt right...

it was on that one morning when i suddenly remembered my mom's words...echoed into my ears as i was young still and she was trying to teach me how to cook rice using the rice cooker...
she said...

* just wash the rice till the water is clear...then put the rice into the rice cooker pan... stick a finger into the rice... where does the rice level come to ur fingers? that is the same level u should add the water as well....*

and it worked all the time....i just simply forgot that...well...8 years man! 8 years of not cooking with the rice cooker....and now ..i feel as if i am finally reunited again with an old flame... n i am really happy!.. n this rice cooker can steam as well! YES!....

and believe it or not.. only after reading kak Ruby's blog that i realised that the Japanese r the ones who invented the rice cooker... well.. it is not suprising really... they practically invented almost everything!

Yes! Kak Queen of the House got it right... insyaAllah.. we will be splashing ourselves in Sapanca this Sunday....

But the catch is... the sad thing is... Halil woudnt be with us...he will be sending us n baba to sapanca and he will be returning to istanbul the next day.. he has to work.....so that means for that one week..it will be only hatice, baddin, baba, mıstık n i there for a week...no tv (it is broken)...no halil.... no going to the markets for buying things (the house is up up up..difficult to climb down without any car)...the bright side is... there will be the pool..how will we enjoy ourselves without halil? i dunno... the kids n i will miss him terribly...he' s the fun guy here...without the fun guy.. where will be find the fun? huwaaaaaaaaaaa...

Well..it is a sacrifice we will just have to make...Sapanca and its green is good for the kids... baba misses sapanca as well.. if we do not go to Sapanca, nobody will..if we dont stay in Sapanca, who will cook and look after him? So...here we goooo...Sapancaaaa... here we come!!!

İstanbul is getting far too hot these days.. Sapanca will be good... besides, basically almost all the Zaim sibings r on holiday... Selimlar r somewhere in Antalya...Halimlar r in Sivaş...Meşelar will be heading to China tomorrow... that leaves Kerimlar here...

hmmm unlimited access to the pool....with mıstık to look after the kids if needs be....i should be looking forward to Sapanca...even without Halil by my side...

Dearest Tem.... i am sealing this entry with a Kiss....i will miss u terribly.. ..make sure ur handphone is on all the time!!

Now simah should be back to tidying up the pace n ironing the clothes.... :0) See ya when i see ya!
