The Two Heartbreakers

Just look at the baby anne (my mom in law ) was holding during our wedding in istanbul almost 8 years ago....That baby in the diaper was Zeynep. There were also Safa...Merve...and Mahture Yenge holding Keremcan...My own daughther and son at that time was...well... they were non existence!

True, i was fascinated by the beauty of my surroundings when i was in sapanca. But I was also totally fascinated by these two girls....At how much they have grown up.Hatice is in her pre school education while Zeynep is in the second grade...there is a two years gap in age between the two girls and there is a 2cm difference in height between them as well....

Where had the time gone to? They r growing up so fast. The next time i blink... a guy(or guys) will probably be knocking our doors (Funda's and mine) for a hand in marriage! I cant say i am looking forward to letting my girl go too fast...

and these two.. the younger siblings of the heartbreakers wont find it easy to ward off the men the elder sisters whose hearts will break in the future...:0)..
But then..elo is gorgeous in her own right as well... so i suppose Selim and Funda will have to paste a notice at their door saying...
"Good hearted MEN onLY!"

Sapanca-Nisan 2007

We all knew that the decision would drive Mıstık (baba’shelper) crazy. Didnt he keep telling us all to at least give him 2 days warning in advance if we ever plan to go there? Well.. this time,we all can blame this to Selim at least.Hehehehehe …well..i was only told of the plan onThursday at 11pm!!

Like Mıstık said in Turkish...…
*çocukların hatirayla gidiyorum!*
(I am only going because of the Children) hehehehehehhe

well...we all certainly did pay for the last minute warning… Naturally,Mıstık went to Sapanca house (baba’s summer house) on Friday. He did all the necessary cleaning, turned on the central heating system of the house, and left for İstanbul that very night.

The house naturally could not very well aired (3 storeys house within less than a day....When we all reached sapanca on Saturday (we managed to persuade mıstık to come too heheheheeh...çok çok rica ettik biz....), none of us could sleep in the room without coughing badly….selim n family.. Halil n family ..and even safa…the carpet n the not fully aired environment in the rooms were affecting all of us.

But was it worth it?

to be able to escape from bricks n mortar and this kind of traffic ..

into this all flush green..fresh air..naturally cooling road..
to enjoy the view of the untrimmed greenness from the balcony...

to enjoy the view of the green pool..sapa mau mandi bunga dengan katak katak ni..anytime bolehhh..)

or this cherry tree (unedible) flowers which took my breath away...

or the contrastive white cherry flowers (edible cherries) which give contrast to the green surrounding

an apple tree flower

and a flower from at the neighbour's..

a walk with the love ones...

stone throwing as we always do..

with a pose near the lake...

And a suprise visit from halim n family
And a further bonus, the frogs in the pool decided to give us a special concert!!They were”singing” and singing to their hearts’ desire at nights.… and guess what??
My dear all grown up very loveable very cute yet a child hubby decided to play with the frogs!!!!! Hahahahahahaha Well.. what he did was he took a stick from somewhere... he let half of the stick to be in the pool water and moved around the pool... trying to get a frog to catch the stick.. he managed to a few times as well...luckily he didnt decide to kiss the frog… !!! hmmm... here is my halil with the frog hhehehe

Well.. at least this year is better...last year during one night in Sapanca, my son baddin actually had scooped a frog right from inside the pool with his bare hands! I guess the two men in my life have this weird thing about frogs..... luckily they didnt kiss the frogs!! yikes!..
I came home from Sapanca feeling as if my throat was held by a blade tip... swallowing was very very painful...that i had to resort to just living on soup... nights were worst... i couldnt sleep properly due too much coughing...I am feeling better Alhamdulillah.. Funda also had her back in pain the last few hours before we were to leave sapanca..she hasnt fuly recovered from it... the latest stat..elo's temperature was at 39 degree celcius yesterday
Was it worth going to Sapanca? the green..the BBQ....the fresh air... Yup! u bet it was all worth it.....every moment of it..i really do miss Sapanca...

My normal thoughts

I was just thinking…

If he didnt marry me, his parents wouldnt be needing to pay 3 tickets to and 4 tickets from Malaysia in 1999. ..and whatever costs they had to pay for such a complicated marriage..

If he didnt marry me..he would be able save his money n spend them on other things rather than use them to pay for whatever legal things he has to pay for marrying a foreigner..

If he didnt marry me, he would probably be able to buy himself a car…rather than use all the penny he has to his name so that his wife can go back to Malaysia once in a while…

But then,…

If he didnt marry me, he wouldnt have a daughter named Nur Hatice and a son named Sabahaddin

If he didnt marry me, he wouldnt be able to experience a hellish (yet wonderful) life only Simah can expertly provide

If he didnt marry me, he wouldnt be able to know what an asam or a maggie mee is…and taste the supposedly (as claimed by simah) the malaysian cooking! Hhahaha

He is stuck to me as i am stuck to him… in health, in sickness, in happiness,in sadness at all times till hopefully death do us part…phew… that sounds really tiring… :0)

Hope u all will have a nice weekend! Take care!

He...

How could it possible that my heart was beating so fast to just to hear his voice? A total stranger… How could it be possible for my hands to be so clammy and cold just when I had to face him, face to face? And for him to ask..”May I come in?”.. I thought I’d die!! I was already stumbling on my words as it was…!! How truly embarrasing…!!

Actions needed to be made. I knew I couldnt do it alone. And so…. İ crossed over to the other side, knocked on the door and a clearly very very sleepy faced male angel came out of the door. The Kids were sleeping… So i asked Sevin Hanım (the cleaning lady) to look after the kids while my male angel came over to us…only then I dared to invite HiM in…

He asked questions…simple questions… I couldnt understand him most of the times… my mind was in such a nervous condition….can u believe it? İ couldnt even remember the year Hatice was born! hahahahaahahahah luckily my male angel was there.. he filled up the gaps where i stumbled….

when everything was over. HE excused himself to leave…apologized for the inconveniences and asked when Halil would be at home so that He could come again…I thanked my male angel for his time..apologized to him for taking him away from his sleep..............what an experience!

Well… this is what u get if u havent renewed ur PR for 3 years!! Hehehe

HE was a police officer…
The Male angel was my brother in law Halim

And this He was actually a very young, soft spoken, (handsome too),very polite not scary at all- a guy..!!

P.s PR ni sebenarnya permanent resident..saya sekarang pendatang haram heheh

Genç (Wink) Hanımlar Gunu

How would u feel when u saw a notice pasted at the entrance door of the apartment saying that the next day between 9am till 1pm, there wouldnt be any electricity due to some work in the area? Would u be smiling knowing that by 10.30am max on that day, u were expecting around 7 gorgeous ladies to ur home for a breakfast get together..and at that time, there would be no electricity? No electricity would also mean that there would be no water. Wonderful, huh?

Luckily the electricity went off only after we were all seated at the dining table. It didnt matter much then. We all had our breakfast, chatted in glee and by 12.15 noon, everyone parted.

Such a gathering is actually a tradition in the turkish community. While Anne (my mom in law) was alive, she used to have these kind of gathering for the ladies at her home. Her date was always the 15th of each month. Her friends would come and she would cook and prepared so many food, enough to feel a whole batallion of armies. All her children used to come to her in the evening to eat all her wonderful food.

I remember how as a new bride, i used to dread when i was invited to a *gunu* (day) like this. First of all, i didnt understand a word they were saying. No. 2… I didnt know really anne’s friends. No 3… socialization was not my strongest point. I got bored so fast and so easily. And these gatherings could stretch for hours. as the bride u cannot be u totally. so...for those long hours u have to be at ur best manner which was really tiring since i am not a very well mannered person...

We didnt have such a gathering among the brides then. Mainly because, for years, Funda was working. Özlem was in the US and Meşe was joining the gatherings with anne and teyze.

After Anne died, almost 4 years after her death, Funda (who gave up working to look after her younger child elo) one day invited all the ladies for a get together since we rarely see each other much. Then, 2 weeks after that we gathered at İclal’s.. and today, it was my place.

What i gather is this… these kinds of gathering is only fun only if it is being held with the people u get well on.. someone near ur age. If u include an older person…of the older generation, then everybody would be acting differently. From what i see, we shared loads of laugh n stories… and it was indeed fun… so the *gunu* i used to dread for is not really a dreadful thing if it isheld with the right crowd...

Thank u for coming! Ayağınıza sağlık!

Özlem, Pınar, İclal, Mehveş, Yeşim, Funda

some of the stuffs on the table
Egg

breakfast without ekmek is not a breakfast

pancake topped with mushroom n vegetables topping

One cake from özlem, one from iclal n the apple pie made by me

Büyük Ada Outing

The moment she woke up, she found me sleeping on baddin's bed, and quickly she woke me up. She peeped thru the curtain. She knewexactly what she saw but with great anticipation she had to hear the answer from mymouth.

"Anne, hava nasıl?"
(Anne, how is the weather?)

When i told her that YES, the weather wouldl permit her to go to the expected place, she jumped in joy! But then her face was suddenly clouded with worry.

"Ama Anne, baddin nasıl? iyileşti mı?"
(But Anne, how is baddin? Is he fully recovered?)

She turned to baddin and hugged him.
"baddin merak etme. sen gidemezsa, ben seni unutmam"
(baddin dont worry. if u cannot go, i wont forget u)

I checked baddin's temperature. Though he had not any fever left from last night, he looked tired. The mother instinct in me warned me not to bring him to the place, but he looked soo sad when he heard of the possibility of him not being able to ctag along.

I woke halil up to ask for his opinion. He then called Meşe (who is a doctor) for her opinion. She said, he could come, as long as we gave him tylolhot beforehand.

And yes.. this little girl..my dearest hatice....

was smiling with joy... and this little boy... baddin..

Though he looked sickly, he was satisfied inside because he was allowed to come too...and join the rest of the cousins....
baddin, hatice,keremcan,zeynep,elo
and ekrem n ediz
It all started a few days ago when every single of us recieved a call from Halil's auntie (Anne's youngest sister), Lutfiye Teyze who invited us all for a trip to the büyük ada...totally sponsored by her.

Lutfiye Teyze and her daughter, Pınar
Of course Afife teyze (the elder teyze) also came along. She was the main bargainer of prices :0)

Afife Teyze and Halil
The ada (island) visiting is basically a tradition among us all.Every year we would all go to one of the islands in istanbul. Last year, we went there when my sister yana was here. Halil at that time was doing his military service in izmir. Last year, Afife Teyze was our sponsor.
I remember my first Ada experience. It was an all ladies day. Anne was still alive at that time. Hatice was just a little girl. I didn't even have baddin at that time. We all went to the büyük ada, ate our lunch there and then went for a sit down somewhere at a green place on the island itself. Merih fed İlayda her soup there, while the rest of the ladies chatted in glee...
There is nothing much u can do actually on the island. U basically go there to eat something, perhaps take a horse carriage or probably walk around the island. No cars except for official cars are allowed. It is either u walk, u cycle or u rent a horse carriage. But when u go there together, the fun part is the fact u r all together, spending time together...and the view is simply gorgeous :0)
This time Lutfiye Teyze chose a nice expensive looking seafood restaurant for us to eat. We had...
Fried squid with a special sauce

Fried mussels with a special sauce

Green Salad

Not so green salad

And these live fish (2 of them) which weighed 4.5 kilograms..
and which price made my mouth opened in shock...

The fish then fried to look like this..
I was truly in shock. That 2 fish had cost Teyze around 250 US dollar. And that was not all what we ate... All younger kids had rice with fries and köfte (meatball). I cant imagine the total cost of the food in total... and that was not all. Teyze also paid for all the horse carriages (around 6) and the ice cream etc..etc. The total cost of everything could have gone up to around 1500 YTL that day.
But teyze was right about one thing though... she said in turkish...*if i dont treat u all to this fish, u wont be eating it*...
For that price, naturally we wouldnt of course. It was simply a waste of money in my opinion. But who would dare to argue with teyze?

At the restaurant (u can see Kerim, iclal n İlka at the very end of the table)
On the horse Carriage
İlayda (merih's daughter) and halil
Afife Teyze, Lutfiye Teyze, Merve and Pınar

Halil, Halim,Selim n Safa
Arent these guys handsome?

i managed to marry one of them hehehe

Funda,Simah,Özlem and Mehveş

This is a proper way to eat the turkish ice cream (from mado) as presented by merih.

This is definitely NOT the way to eat ur ice cream!
Nasib baik mak mentua dah meninggal dan pak mentua tak ikut sama hehehe
For the whole outing however, baddin got worse. He started coughing terribly the whole time we were there due to allergic. We bought a medicine for allergic for him, but too much coughing, plus the fever last night had left him drained up. By the time we were heading towards home, he started to get a fever again which lasted thruout that night. It was quite scary really since it went up till 39.3 degree celcius. Halil even skipped from going to work today due to that. Alhamdulillah he seems better today. As i am writing this ..it is 12.40 midnight already. He hasnt got any fever yet. Hopefully, it will continue on the whole night coz we r expecting lady guests tomorrow... and his cousins would be here as well. F Allah is willing, i think he will recover by tomorrow.
It was a nice outing. Thank You Teyze for sponsoring us! And all the kids were actually suprisingly quite well behaved that day.
More photos will be uploaded to my photo blog soon......çok yorgunum şuanda... üykum çokkkkkk var.. iyi geceler herkese..iyi geceler annem..babam..kardeşlerim.. size çok çok özledim..... bir daha ne zaman göreceğiz acaba....
p.s -forgive me if i cant blog hop yet...my energy level n time r quite low at the moment...

Thank You for hopping by...Hope to see u again the next time.
